What is Building Design Engineering ?
Culture of Space vs building design
Aims: The course brings an overall approach to the subject matter aiming interactive collaboration between City & Regional Planners and Building Design Professionals. Multidisciplinary workshops in an integrated design studio environment will be used as a complementary part of the Active Learning process.
Contents: The course intends to cover the following issues:
Building Biology & Ergonomics
Construction
Light, Building Materials & Psychological Considerations
Services, Ventilation, Acoustics
Key Skills: Ability to work in a team; analytical skills, oral presentation skills
Range and Structure of Course: The course consists of 56 working hours per week. (28 hours for supervised study and classes, 14 hours for individual study, 7 hours for production and feedback, 7 hours for group work)
Teaching and Supervision: Reading, discussion, presentation, individual & group study, seminar, lecture, critique, case study, workshop.
Assessment: Two Mid Term examinations will be averaged and affect the grade by 50 %. Final exam will be 50% of the resulting grade.
